KARACHI:
Nawaz Sharif’s long-awaited speech was nothing but aimless and immoral leaving spectators speechless. Rather than discussing policy motives for the country, he spent the entire speech criticising former prime minister Imran Khan.
What the country urgently needs is a comprehensive plan to alleviate poverty, unemployment and inflation. He should have shared a roadmap for initiatives to revive the economy and reform the different sectors. Unfortunately, though, he entirely sidelined Sindh and other provinces. Sindh has been lagging in education along with several other sectors. It is appalling to see that Nawaz Sharif who is now campaigning for the next general elections failed to highlight the issues of other provinces.
One cannot help but wonder why he expects voters from across the country to vote for him when his past is tarnished with allegations of corruption and nepotism. All parties must be offered a level playing field for the next general elections so that all citizens who diligently pay their taxes can select their candidate based on democratic and ethical principles.
