KARACHI:
A number of globally renowned Japanese car manufacturing companies have been operating in Pakistan for decades. However, they have failed to produce entirely locally manufactured vehicles and struggled to export vehicles to other countries from Pakistan. Declining sales due to high prices have compelled these companies to halt or limit operations in the country.
On the other hand, a new Chinese car manufacturing company has recently started production in Pakistan and is already exporting vehicles to African countries. The owners and shareholders of the Japanese companies must reconsider their strategies to improve competitiveness and cut costs like their Japanese brand owners. Otherwise, they will be forced to entirely cease operations soon.
