A profound movement

A profound movement

KARACHI:

The significance of Karbala extends far beyond a mere military encounter. Its narrative carries symbolic and moral lessons for those who firmly believe in its principles. It is not difficult to understand that an army going to fight a battle for power would never consist of fewer than 80 persons, including family members of the commander, women, and children. Imam Hussain (RA) standing against Yazid I’s forces can only be seen as a symbol of righteousness and resistance against tyranny. The incident is not just a battle but a drive to impart a lesson about the fight for truth against falsehood, virtue against vice, and justice against oppression. It is much more than a conventional clash between two armies.

Imam Hussain (RA), as the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and a revered figure in all respects, is seen as the embodiment of veracity and uprightness. He refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid, a corrupt and illegitimate ruler and instead chose to uphold the principles of Islam and defend the true teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The tragic events of Karbala, where Imam Hussain (RA) and his followers were brutally martyred and deprived of water and other necessities are seen as a stark contrast between the forces of good and evil.

It is a profound and spiritually charged event that continues to inspire millions of human beings worldwide and should thus be regarded as a movement. To remember the sacrifice of the family and companions of Imam Hussain (RA), we shall follow the teachings and actions of Imam Hussain (RA).
