HYDERABAD, INDIA:
Apropos the article titled “Modi’s speech depicts a shameful America” written by Imran Jan and published on 6 July in The Express Tribune. By writing this article, he insulted the American people, their democracy, and further, by calling our popular Prime Minister a terrorist, he insulted India. Firstly, the root cause of the Gujarat riots in 2002 was the tragic burning to death of approximately 70 Hindu individuals. It is not easy to control the anger of the masses following such an incident.
I simply ask the author a straightforward question: If Hindus were to commit such an act in Pakistan, what would be the reaction of the Pakistani people? The entire Hindu population would be wiped out from Pakistan, wouldn’t it? While the article may be appreciated by hardcore elements in Pakistan, the author cannot seem to hide his own ignorance on the matter.
