KARACHI:
Sports play a vital role in the mental and physical development of the youth. Unfortunately, most cities in Balochistan lack playgrounds and facilities, which prevents the youth from participating in sports and developing their potential. Even though the residents have tried to raise awareness about the issue and demanded action, their efforts have gone in vain.
Baloch players are largely absent from local, regional, and international tournaments. Both Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) have failed to facilitate the players by setting up training camps and providing coaching facilities. The dire conditions are demotivating for many and creating resentment among the players. The provincial government needs to pay attention to the issue and encourage educational institutes to arrange competitions and tournaments for students, which can help display their talent and potential. PCB and PFF should set up recruitment camps for district and provincial tournaments.
