Feigned madness

Feigned madness

GILGIT:

The ruling elite often employs a tactic akin to Shakespeare’s Hamlet feigning madness to serve their own interests rather than sincerely addressing societal issues. They craftily manipulate the narrative diverting attention from their shortcomings and invariably blaming external factors or political adversaries. In their desperation to hold onto power, they resort to oppressive measures against opposition parties further eroding public trust and breeding discontent.

Media manipulation, political manoeuvring, and suppression of dissent are the sinister tools used by the ruling elite to safeguard their ever-widening interests. Even though they are supposed to be the wisest in the face of adversity, they instead exploit the chaos and hardships faced by ordinary citizens and use their feigned madness as a shield to protect their power and privileges. However, these hollow measures only highlight their detachment from the people’s struggles, further eroding public trust. Just as Hamlet’s calculated madness led to his downfall, the ruling elite’s actions may contribute to their own collapse.

The people are not oblivious to their manipulations and double standards. They can see through the façade and are increasingly disillusioned with the government. The recent crackdowns on opposition parties have deepened social divisions and fueled ever-increasing resentment driving the populace to demand genuine solutions. The ruling elite’s discrepancies are no longer hidden, and the people are now demanding authentic leadership that truly addresses their concerns. Like Hamlet, the ruling elite’s carefully constructed madness has sown the seeds of their downfall as the people grow weary of deceitful leadership and seek representatives who will genuinely meet their needs. We have yet to see whether the ruling elite will face the consequences of their actions or if they will unjustly drag ordinary people into the repercussions and cause them to suffer just like Hamlet did.
