Workplace differences

KARACHI:

Employers and employees almost always differ on workplace expectations and commitments. The nature of these differences can vary based on different industries and organisations. If the gap between employers and employees widens it is bound to affect productivity and outcomes. Therefore, it is crucial to bridge this gap to foster a positive workplace environment.

Both employees and employers make tall claims during the hiring process. They must both make sure that they keep these promises as it can create a sense of trust and confidence. Employers should always encourage and appreciate employees for their good work ethic and performance. Similarly, when employees are given new opportunities, they should perform their best and ensure that they meet their employer’s expectations. Employers should acknowledge the talent and potential of employees and give them appropriate opportunities to utilise their potential and enhance their skills.

Additionally, employers should include employees in decision-making matters to ensure that employees do not feel alienated and express their opinions and ideas openly. Employees must have access to support or counselling in case they feel overwhelmed or burnout by their workload. More importantly, employers should make sure that employees are paid on time and receive the necessary benefits or allowances along with an annual pay rise. This is especially important as most people are feeling the heat of the ever-increasing inflation. In conclusion, the employer and employee relationship require respect and concerted efforts from both ends to create a motivated and positive work environment.
