KARACHI:
The prevailing political situation in Pakistan has raised uncertainty and affected people’s daily routines and activities. There is an atmosphere of instability and mistrust among the people because of the frequent changes in power, ideological conflicts, and extensive charges of corruption. Unfortunately, Political turmoil has long affected Pakistan’s education system.
Once again, students across the country find themselves in limbo after recent exam postponements and cancellations. Frequent strikes, protests, and road closures have compelled institutes to temporarily halt academic activities on campuses, which is hindering academic progress and threatening students’ dreams and employment prospects. The unending political disputes have intensified the situation. Presently, students are left feeling anxious and confused because of the deteriorating economic situation.
Even though students have been reassured that they will be graded on previous exam results or exams will be re-scheduled, the constant uncertainty is raising distress among the students. The relevant authorities must take note of the students’ predicament and form a mechanism to ensure that academic activities can continue per usual during periods of political tension. We need to create a safe and conducive educational environment to promote education and drive the country towards progress and development.
