KARACHI:
Even in this day and age, most people still use plastic purifiers and plastic bottles of mineral water. Water stored in plastic bottles produces harmful substances like fluoride, arsenic, and aluminium, which slowly promote cancerous cells in our bodies. It is also toxic for animals, plants, marine life, and the environment. When water undergoes a certain purification process, it goes through a range of filters, which makes it lose its fundamental life-making properties.
If water is stored in a copper vessel for six to eight hours, it can help balance these problems. Copper is the best-conducting metal, and it energises the water. The chemical properties of water wouldn’t change, only there would be a disturbance in molecular structure. Its antibacterial properties help in killing a range of microorganisms, such as microbes, fungi, and moulds. It promotes digestion, skin health, bone health, and immunity. It improves cardiovascular health, helps with arthritis, and fights joint pain. A few alternatives are stainless steel and earthen vessels. They are chemical-free, rust, corrosion, and stain resistant, and have air spaces, which keep the water fresh and cool.
Considering that most parts of Pakistan are experiencing heatwaves and hotter temperatures, many people will be tempted to drink cold water stored in fridges. The fridge-stored water decreases the digestive fire and reduces the blood supply to various organs. We should always sip water instead of directly ingesting it as it helps build saliva in the mouth, which helps with digestion. It is advised not to drink water in a standing position, as it creates a lot of pressure in the kidneys and disrupts the balance of fluids in our body leading to a great accumulation of fluids in joints causing arthritis.
