KARACHI:
The public school in Jaglot in Gilgit is in a poor state with the building crumbling and running out of space to accommodate the influx of students. Most of the furniture in classrooms is falling apart. The administration and teaching faculty are struggling to cater to the students adequately as the number of students is consistently rising. The school building is also a safety hazard for students and faculty.
The poor situation at public schools across the country signals the government’s lack of interest in improving education and facilitating the youth. On the contrary, the government continues granting higher budgets and amnesty schemes to industries and sectors that are already enjoying high profits. The dismal conditions at schools in Jaglot and other parts of the country require urgent attention from the relevant departments.
Education is the backbone of any country as it drives development and growth. But the criminal negligence of our authorities has impeded any form of progress in Pakistan. The relevant authorities should address the issue immediately. School buildings should be well looked after and undergo regular maintenance. All government schools should be equipped with the necessary resources and have enough teachers. The government must invest in education to pave the way for innovation and development.
