KARACHI:
Digital fraud is when hackers or fraudsters obtain or access people’s personal information using email, websites, malicious software, and other techniques. Over the years, digital fraud has risen in Pakistan. As many as 7,000 complaints have been registered concerning digital fraud since 2018.
Much of the time, people’s bank accounts are hacked and emptied. Sometimes, people provide sensitive bank details on unauthentic websites and end up losing their money. Cybercriminals often call people pretending to be bank or law enforcement officials to obtain personal and financial information of people, which they later use for malicious purposes.
With advancements in technology, digital fraud techniques are becoming more sophisticated. Therefore, people need to be educated about phishing attacks, online impersonation, etc. People need to be more careful online and avoid using websites and software that they do not fully understand.
