Insufficient water supply

Insufficient water supply

KARACHI:

Water is essential for human survival, and the lack of it can lead to various health problems. An adult should consume at least 2 litres of water every day to maintain good health. However, in many parts of Pakistan, people lack access to clean water and rely on contaminated water sources. This has raised the incidence of waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever, and dysentery, which can be life-threatening if left untreated.

Insufficient water intake can also lead to dehydration, which can cause fatigue, headaches, kidney problems, etc. Children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to dehydration. In addition to the health effects, inadequate water supply can also have economic and social consequences. Without access to clean water, people cannot maintain good hygiene and succumb to diseases, which will affect their ability to attend school or work.

The government must take the issue of water scarcity in earnest to ensure people have access to potable water across the country. Perhaps, it should work with private, and international organisations to improve water infrastructure and implement sustainable water management practices. We cannot take water for granted and must do our part to ensure that everyone has access to clean water.
