KARACHI:
Ghotki is the second largest taxpaying city in Sindh after Karachi, yet the youth here have few educational and career opportunities. There are no medical universities in the city, so students interested in medicine and related fields have to seek their education elsewhere in the province. This is not affordable for many students, and it is also hampering the provision of healthcare within the city.
Most medical graduates do not return to Ghotki after graduating as there are few opportunities here. Even the factories located in the region do not offer employment to fresh graduates. The provincial government must consider establishing a medical university in Ghotki to address the pressing need for quality medical education. This will also contribute to the development of a skilled healthcare workforce that can serve the local population effectively.
It will also bring economic and social benefits to our community by creating job opportunities, attracting investment, and improving healthcare services. The provincial government should also urge local industries to hire graduates within Ghotki and offer them training and employment opportunities so that the youth are not forced to migrate elsewhere in search of better prospects.
