KARACHI:
It has become a common sight to see young teenagers driving recklessly on the streets of Karachi putting their lives and others’ lives in danger. This issue has become a serious problem that requires immediate attention. Underage drivers lack the experience and maturity to handle a vehicle, and their reckless behaviour often leads to accidents that can result in fatalities or serious injuries.
This is exemplified by the frequent news of dangerous accidents across the city. The traffic police can play a critical role by strictly enforcing the laws and avoiding taking bribes from young drivers. Some officials have complained that despite issuing fines, young drivers often call their parents or relatives who force them to let the child go.
Parents must assume responsibility for their children’s actions and prevent them from driving at a young age. Parents should be aware of the dangers of allowing their children to drive and must be held accountable for any harm caused by their underage drivers. Educational campaigns should be launched to inform people of the dangerous consequences of the irresponsible actions of a few. We must take collective action to prevent further loss of lives and property due to this menace. Everyone must work together to make our city a safer place for everyone.
