Tribal feuds

Letter April 11, 2023
Tribal feuds

KARACHI:

Tribal feuds are one of the main impediments to Sindh’s progress and development. Most tribal conflicts are a result of long-standing personal or historical issues. More often than not, these conflicts are settled through violence, which causes loss of life and hampers the overall stability of the region.

The recent killing of a renowned educationist due to a tribal feud has left many feeling hopeless and fearful. Despite not being closely affiliated with the tribe, the educationist got reeled into the conflict and ended up losing his life. Teachers and scholars play an important role in educating the youth, promoting tolerance and good habits among students, and shaping their minds. The loss of such individuals is a setback for the entire community.

Unfortunately, tribal feuds are a problem across the country and many innocent people lose their lives. Perhaps, the provincial governments should step in and form committees to monitor and settle tribal disputes to avoid violence. Law enforcement agencies should be strengthened to deal with tribal issues. Educational institutes should inform students about peaceful coexistence and tolerance through educational lessons. We must put an end to this issue to prevent future loss of life and create a safe and peaceful environment for everyone.
