Deplorable state

KARACHI:

Despite being one of the most important sectors in the country, the education sector is facing a number of significant challenges that are hindering the progress and development of our young generation. Firstly, there is a shortage of qualified teachers in many parts of the country. This is due to low salaries and poor working conditions, which have forced many competent and skilled teachers to seek employment elsewhere. This has hampered the quality of education and produced poor educational outcomes.

Another major issue is the lack of investment in education infrastructure. Many schools do not have access to basic facilities such as clean drinking water, sanitation, and electricity. This not only affects the learning environment but also puts the health and safety of students at risk. Moreover, the curriculum is outdated and does not prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world. Most schools lack access to technology and other tools for modern education. This is limiting their future potential and opportunities for success.

It is the government’s responsibility to address these issues and prioritise the education sector. The government should increase investment in the sector, improve working conditions for faculty and administration, and introduce a new curriculum. Reforming the education sector is crucial to not only protect thousands of students’ futures but put the country on the path of sustainable development and progress.
