KARACHI:
Motorcyclists and drivers who regularly commute through the KPT flyover in Karachi are aware that the expansion joint has slumped over time causing a bump in the road. Upon closer observation, I noticed that the walls of the bridge adjacent to this bump are also cracking. Due to the bump, motorcyclists often lose balance causing their vehicles to fall or slip.
The bump is a major safety hazard as I have often witnessed speeding drivers lose control of their vehicles. Many vehicles suffer damage, which is evident through the motor oil spilt around the area.
The relevant authorities should address this dangerous situation immediately. The road should be temporarily closed to traffic until it is repaired to ensure the safety of commuters.
