Basic life support

KARACHI:

The Covid pandemic highlighted the important role that healthcare workers play in keeping our communities healthy and safe. They work tirelessly to provide essential care to patients often risking their own health and safety. Therefore, healthcare workers must receive proper training and support to carry out their duties effectively.

Healthcare workers in Sindh’s government hospitals can benefit from training in basic life support (BLS). It teaches healthcare workers the essential skills needed to provide emergency care to patients in critical situations. This training can include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and other life-saving techniques that can make a crucial difference in saving lives. Unfortunately, many healthcare workers in Sindh do not receive this vital training, which puts them and their patients at risk. BLS training allows healthcare workers to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies.

Healthcare workers are more likely to quickly identify emergency situations and take the necessary steps to provide life-saving care, which can improve health outcomes. BLS-trained workers can handle stressful and challenging situations better, which can reduce medical errors and improve the overall quality of care provided. Workers who are trained in BLS feel more confident in their job, which improves job satisfaction. Consequently, they provide better care increasing patient satisfaction as well. All healthcare workers in government hospitals must be given BLS training as they deal with large numbers of patients daily.
