KARACHI:
Within the last few weeks, hundreds of mobile phones have been snatched from Peshawar’s citizens, mostly at gunpoint, in various localities of the city. The deteriorating law and order situation has left residents feeling unsafe in public places and at their homes. People have been robbed of their entire salaries and other valuables, which is increasing difficulties for them amid soaring inflation.
Evidently, the police are struggling to curb the rising crime rate in Peshawar. Police inaction is giving leverage to criminals who do not hesitate in killing innocent citizens. The concerned authorities must act swiftly to address the issue before it spirals beyond control. The police should increase patrolling in the city and register FIRs against the culprits to trace and catch them. The deteriorating law and order situation must be improved to provide some relief to the citizens.
