Voice of Upper Dir

Voice of Upper Dir

KARACHI:

For the last two decades, the district of Upper Dir has been suffering from host of issues. During the early 2000s, the region was faced with security concerns due to militancy and terrorism. This created a sense of fear and insecurity among residents. Although the situation has improved in recent years, there are still occasional incidents of violence, and the memory of past conflict continues to linger in the community.

Another major challenge is frequent natural disasters, which have displaced large numbers of people from their homes and damaged significant infrastructure. These disasters have also harmed the local economy, which is largely based on agriculture and tourism. Poor infrastructure and limited resources have affected essential services such as healthcare and education. Poor health and educational outcomes have hampered prospects and limited opportunities for people, particularly women and children.

Although the government and welfare organisations have tried to tackle the issues, much more needs to be done to revive the local economy and support locals. Provincial and federal governments should work together to address the different problems to create a better future for Upper Dir’s residents and improve the overall well-being of the region.
