Confrontational approach

Confrontational approach

KARACHI:

Democracy is based on mutual consensus, coordination, co-existence, and collaboration. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, politicians have resorted to a confrontational discourse, which has become the root of all problems in the country. Some of these include political uncertainty, stifled economic growth, weak law enforcement, and security threats.

This confrontational approach has made our leaders individualistic and selfish. Whether they are in the government or opposition, they do not want to come together to make rational decisions and devise long-term solutions for the multiple problems faced by the country. Right now, all political leaders and stakeholders need to form a mutual consensus to resolve key national issues and challenges. This will also allow leaders to move past their differences and reconcile with each other for the common good.

In conclusion, we need to replace the myopic mindset with pragmatic, scientific, and rational thinking to transform the country. The culture of political confrontation and toxic rhetoric should be dismantled and replaced with tolerance, enlightenment, accountability, integrity, and wisdom. This should begin with the political leadership so that it can eventually trickle down among the masses. To achieve progress and growth, both the leadership and the public should be willing to set aside their differences and work cooperatively.
