Payment delays

Letter February 22, 2023
Payment delays

KARACHI:

Last year, the federal government changed the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Pakistan) pay scales with government scales. The move was expected to bring some respite for the employees and pensioners of the company. However, irregular payments of salaries and delays in pensions and medical allowances have been ongoing for months.

For the past several months, employees and pensioners have been struggling to make ends meet due to indefinite delays in payments and have had to resort to borrowing money from others. Even if the government cannot clear dues of the last six months of employees and pensioners, it should pay medical allowance to both serving and retired employees.

Radio Pakistan is the oldest broadcasting network in the country and has played a significant role in promoting culture and providing information to people across the country. Yet the government has failed to facilitate the company in recent years. The government should take note of the present situation and clear the dues of employees.
