Women card

Women card

KARACHI:

The term ‘women card’ is often used to dismiss the opinions and experiences of women. It perpetuates harmful stereotypes and discrimination against women. In Pakistan, women face significant challenges in terms of gender inequality, discrimination, and violence. Despite efforts to promote gender equality, women are often not taken seriously or are dismissed as being overly emotional or irrational. This is where the term “women’s card” comes into play — it is used to suggest that women are using their gender as a way to gain an unfair advantage or to avoid responsibility.

This term is not only harmful and offensive but also undermines the efforts of women who are working towards gender equality and promoting women’s rights in Pakistan. It is important to acknowledge and address the systemic barriers and discrimination that women face to create a society that is more inclusive and supportive of women’s rights and empowerment.

Instead of dismissing women’s opinions and experiences, we need to actively listen and work towards creating a society that values and respects women. This includes promoting women’s participation in decision-making processes, protecting women from violence and discrimination, and providing equal opportunities for education, employment, and healthcare. Women should be present in social, political, and economic spheres to improve representation. Negative ideas and biases against women should be dismantled and women’s rights should be safeguarded by the law.
