Poor security

Poor security

KARACHI:

Sukkur is the third largest city of Sindh and home to several communities. It was once known as the city of peace and harmony. Unfortunately, however, in recent years, street crimes, robberies, and murders have risen rapidly across the city. People are constantly fearing for their lives and safety in public places and at their homes.

In the last few months, many people have lost their lives in incidents of mugging and robberies. Recently, two men were murdered in different spots. One was shot dead along the road and another body was found cut into pieces. The police’s inaction has led people to believe that either the police force is complicit or incompetent. The growing sense of insecurity has raised alarm and agitation amongst the people as they are already struggling with many problems.

The provincial government should pay attention to the worsening law and order situation in Sukkur and equip the police with sufficient resources to catch the culprits and recover people’s valuables. Considering that Sukkur contributes significantly to the country’s economy, safety and security should be restored in the city. Otherwise, it will affect business activity as well as harm societal peace.
