KARACHI:
Our country is blessed with a diverse linguistic and cultural heritage, which is a valuable treasure that should be cherished and preserved. Unfortunately, many of these languages are at risk of being lost and forgotten due to the dominance of English and Urdu. Public sector universities can play a crucial role in preserving and promoting our mother languages. Educational institutes should consider introducing curriculums and research in regional languages. This will contribute to the preservation and promotion of these languages as well as provide students and researchers with a platform to showcase their linguistic and cultural heritage. This will also create opportunities for students to learn about the diverse cultures and traditions of different regions of Pakistan. Promoting regional languages can also help dismantle language barriers and make education and research more inclusive and accessible to a larger proportion of students.
In addition, it will allow students to develop linguistic skills and improve their ability to understand and communicate in different languages. I hope that both public and private universities will consider this suggestion and promote education and research in regional languages in universities. I believe that this will contribute significantly to the preservation and promotion of our linguistic and cultural heritage and help to create a more inclusive and diverse educational environment for all students and researchers.
