KARACHI:
Stomach issues have become extremely common among the youth today. Nearly, everyone we know is suffering from some form of digestive issue including pain, diarrhoea, heartburn, nausea and vomiting, etc. The main reason for this is our unhealthy diets and lifestyles.
Most teenagers nowadays do not consume enough fruits and vegetables and often skip meals including breakfast. People who skip breakfast can experience headaches, blood sugar dips, and faintness. Eating breakfast can help maintain blood sugar and blood pressure levels and improves cholesterol levels. Much of the youth regularly consume some form of junk food, processed food, and sugary drinks. These items increase the likelihood of serious health conditions including diabetes, and heart disease. They also contribute to mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.
In addition, the majority of the youth do not participate in physical activities like sports or exercise and have a sedentary lifestyle. Resultantly, they have low energy and strength. The healthcare authorities should encourage younger people to adopt healthy dietary habits and incorporate physical activities into their lifestyles. Good physical and mental health will not only improve individuals’ productivity, but also maximise contributions to the country and reduce the incidence of disease and illnesses.
