KARACHI:
Even though Khuzdar is the third largest city in Balochistan, it is deprived of many basic facilities including electricity. Frequent load-shedding has made it impossible for residents to get on with their daily lives. People are forced to complete most of their tasks during daylight hours. Regular outages are also affecting students’ ability to study and prepare for their exams.
Officials claim that grid stations and electricity lines were damaged during the floods, which has obstructed the electricity supply. However, Khuzdar, Turbat, and several other cities of Balochistan have been facing hours-long load shedding for the past many years. Most areas do not have electricity for more than 10 hours a day. Many residents are worried about the summers as it is impossible to bear the heat.
How are people expected to achieve any sort of progress when their lives are brought to a standstill due to the negligence of those at the helm? Both the provincial and federal governments have long ignored the people’s woes, which has further multiplied people’s problems. The relevant authorities should take note of the situation and must restore electricity in the region.
