KARACHI:
Consecutive political issues are eroding the trust of the masses as well as undermining the legitimacy of democratic institutions. The country is faced with the worst economic crunch in its history. Inflation is skyrocketing, the foreign exchange rate is dwindling, and unemployment is consistently rising. Amid emerging food insecurity, it is becoming increasingly challenging for people to purchase flour. The common man is struggling to get by. Many have been forced to take extreme measures such as committing suicide to end their suffering.
The masses have to bear the brunt of the political leadership’s incompetent policies. People can no longer afford to send their children to schools and fulfil their educational expenses. This will ultimately increase child labour and crimes. Many people have already emigrated, and several others are planning to leave the country for their survival and security. The country is on the verge of economic default because of our corrupt and inept rulers.
Unfortunately, Pakistan has been in great trouble for a long time now. It is high time that our leaders rectified their mistakes and accepted responsibility for their failures. We must forego enmity with our neighbouring countries and pursue bilateral relations to revive economic activity. We must adopt rational economic policies to tackle the current crisis. Political parties must put an end to their senseless pursuit of power and work together for the betterment of the country.
