Unequal opportunities

Unequal opportunities

KARACHI:

Many young graduates struggle with finding jobs and acquiring higher education due to the absence of a uniform education system and a lack of government interest in creating opportunities for the youth. Individuals who have acquired education from private institutes have better prospects as employers give them higher precedence over graduates from public institutes.

There is a disparity within provinces as some regions are less developed and lack basic facilities compared to others. This prevents students from performing well in exams and seeking better education and employment opportunities. Consequently, many talented and skilled individuals are unable to showcase their potential and have to instead take up whatever jobs are available to them. Some people can find this discouraging and resort to extreme measures such as partake in illegal or criminal activities. While others fall prey to depression and frustration.

Even though the government has launched different initiatives to support the youth, these efforts need to be more widespread and inclusive. The federal education department should work with provincial education departments to introduce a uniform curriculum. Educational institutes should offer career counselling and assist students in preparing for their careers through workshops and educational activities. The relevant authorities should ensure that all individuals have equal opportunities as it can boost the country’s potential and enhance its ability to promote the country on a global level. A good education system and equal opportunities can help resolve many socioeconomic issues prevalent in the country.
