Systemic change

Systemic change

KARACHI:

The year 2022 was just another reflection of our leaders’ inability to learn lessons from the past and continue on the same path of destruction. On Wednesday, Chief Minister of Punjab Pervaiz Elahi left many people stunned after refusing to take the vote of confidence. This proves that both PTI and PDM lack a majority and the sitting government can no longer justify the colossal loss of taxpayers’ money on the ongoing political drama.

The absence of a proper education system, the violation of social values, and the promotion of adhocracy have degenerated our society. People do not value morals, ethics, or time. The public is no longer interested in holding the elected representative accountable for their actions. The dwindling economy and depreciating currency are threatening the country’s survival. The surging inflation is crushing the masses, but the leaders appear to be oblivious to the public’s woes.

The crisis that we face today is a homemade crisis manufactured by our politicians who have failed to look beyond their interests. In addition, the global political and economic upheaval is posing significant challenges for many countries including Pakistan. The country’s stakeholders must realise that there is a need for systemic change to ensure the country’s survival. As a Muslim-majority country, we need an Islamic social justice system, which guarantees the well-being and protection of all citizens. Politicians need to give up on their selfish interests and should be answerable to the people.
