TANDO JAM:
The city of Tando Jam falls within the jurisdiction of Taluka and district Hyderabad. Due to this, the Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad has been issuing urban domicile to the Tando Jam’s residents since 2017. However, candidates who apply for jobs in Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) on urban quota are rejected because the said area is categorised as rural in the commission record. The Federal Public Service Commission accepts and selects candidates with urban domicile for federal posts. But, this does not apply to provincial jobs through SPSC. This ambiguous quota policy has put the candidates in limbo and threatens the future of many bright candidates.
I request the relevant authorities including the SPSC Chairman, Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad, and Chief Secretary of Sindh to consider the issue on a priority basis and revise the policy to ensure that candidates’ efforts do not go in vain and they are appointed for appropriate positions.
