I am a senior journalist with experience of working for various international news channels. This is to clarify that I have no role whatsoever in arranging any of Arshad Sharif’s marriages. The fact-finding report, citing Arshad Sharif’s mother, gives a factually incorrect reference that “Arshad’s third marriage was arranged by Javed Rana. And family did not know about it.” Arshad and I were colleagues at a weekly magazine in 1998-99. During this time, Arshad allegedly entered his first marriage with a journalist discreetly. It was then that I, as a friend, played a role along with his parents – though in vain – to prevail upon Arshad not to marry a woman nearly double his age.
