Water shortage in KAECHS

Letter December 12, 2022
Water shortage in KAECHS

KARACHI:

We are the residents of the Karachi Administrative Employee Co-operative Housing Society (KAECHS) which falls in the ‘A’ category area of the city. Here, the utility bills, particularly for water, are almost 100% paid. Still, the residents have been facing acute water shortages for a long time.

There is a pumping station in Block 5, at KAECHS. Its motor has malfunctioned several times of late, but the residents are told that there is no water supply from the main supply line. In addition, the water supply has stopped during the daytime for the past several months. KAECHS is divided into A to G groups, and water is available for only one to two hours a week.

It goes without saying that the residents are suffering a great deal: taps remain dry throughout the day, and we don’t have water for our basic needs – and worship. Under the circumstances, we are compelled to buy expensive water tankers to meet our daily water needs – something that is an additional burden on us after settling the bills. Therefore, we request the MD Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to take immediate action to solve this problem.
