GILGIT:
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) recently announced plans of conducting a special Central Superior Service (CSS) exam. According to the notification, apart from candidates from Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) candidates from all provinces including former FATA territories can undertake the exams. The special exam will be conducted only once giving candidates who failed in the previous three attempts an additional fourth attempt to appear in this examination.
Although this is a good initiative as it offers aspirants another opportunity to prove themselves, the exclusion of G-B candidates is unjust. Given that the youth of G-B already have few career opportunities, their exclusion from this exam has brought a sense of deprivation among them. All their hard work and preparation will go in vain, and many will struggle with finding appropriate jobs elsewhere.
The special exam is being held as some seats remained empty. According to the FPSC’s notification, the maximum age of the candidates should be 32. But as per the rules, there will be a relaxation of two years. I urge the FPSC to review their decision and either include GB aspirants for the special exam or compensate them in another way. Otherwise, this will reflect poorly on the commission and discourage G-B aspirants from taking the exam altogether.
