ISLAMABAD:
Women make up almost half of the Pakistani population, yet they have been excluded from social, economic, and political spheres for decades. It is high time that women are provided with equal education and employment opportunities. Empowered women can lend a helping hand in transforming our society and putting the country on a progressive track.
Women should not be limited to household chores and caring responsibilities instead they should be allowed to utilise their skills and potential in different ways. Families should support women in pursuing their careers, particularly husbands should share household duties with their spouses. Public and private organisations should open more positions for female candidates and accord women the same priority for leadership roles. Women can be just as good decision-makers and analytical thinkers if given the right opportunities. Many women juggle between fulfilling household responsibilities while being employed, which shows their ability to multitask. Therefore, they should be given vocational and training opportunities to support their career advancement.
The government should urge all public and private organisations to offer mentoring to female employees for both personal and professional development. We must empower women by expanding their horizons and including them in all spheres as it can help drive the country towards change and leave a more equal society for future generations.
