Dera Bugti has the lowest literacy rate in Balochistan as compared to the rest of the districts in the province. Sangsella, a tehsil of Dera Bugti where I reside, has a population of more than eight thousand people. But it is devoid of even one school that is functioning. There are school buildings in the area, but they have been closed for nearly a decade and half, for want of teachers and other staff. Local people have staged protests several times, demanding of the provincial government to revive the schools, but in vain. I, on behalf of the people of Sangsella, appeal to the provincial authorities to wake up to our educational plight and take urgent action in the context.
