Border fencing

Border fencing

KARACHI:

I want to highlight the vision of Western Zone Management that was presented in 2018 under the leadership of General Qamar Javed Bajwa to improve the security situation in areas adjacent to Afghanistan. The plan had several aspects.

Under the border management aspect, cross-border terrorism, smuggling and financial support of terrorism are being curtailed. The fence along the border with Afghanistan and Iran is almost complete. Border forts are also being constructed at distances, which will be used by the troops to patrol the area. Lastly, border terminals at Chaman, Torkhum, Angur Adda, Ghulam Khan and Kharlachi are facilitating the movement of people and goods across the border.

I have seen an improved security situation and a significant reduction in the Army and Frontier Corps checkposts because of the fence. Such revolutionary measures were long due for the betterment of the situation in the regions along the border. Thanks to General Bajwa, this concept is now finally a reality and is bearing economic and social fruits.
