KARACHI:
Recent reports revealed that Radio Pakistan has once again delayed salary and pension payments of serving and retired employees. The official management has failed to offer any explanation for the inordinate delay in salary and pension payments, which are usually paid at the start of the month. The organisation has had a history of delays in payments due to inadequate funds and a lack of government facilitation.
The management has urged the government to allocate sufficient resources so that the organisation can continue running smoothly and pay employees on time. The relevant government department must consider the woes of the organisation and chalk out a plan to lift some of its burdens.
Radio Pakistan is the country’s first national public broadcaster for radio and should not be abandoned during this difficult time. The federal government must revive it by providing it with resources so that the organisation can keep pace with the ever-changing environment and attract younger audiences.
