Unrepaired roads

Unrepaired roads

KARACHI:

For the last several months, the main Soldier Bazar Road has been lying unrepaired making residents’ daily commute an insufferable experience. The road was dug before the monsoon season under the pretext of installing new sewerage lines. But no one ever came to install or repair the existing sewerage pipelines.

Unfortunately, the foundations of most roads are weak, which is why they quickly crumble even after being repaired. Overflowing gutters have further deteriorated the conditions of the roads. Resultantly, residents have to drive on potholed and torn-up roads that have become a source of daily traffic jams and accidents.

Poor road conditions also pose a serious risk to motorcyclists and pedestrians. The relevant municipal officials must visit Soldier Bazar and other areas to see the terrible roads. I urge the authorities to resume repair work at their earliest so that the citizens can heave a sigh of relief.
