Deplorable education system

Deplorable education system

AWARAN:

Although Awaran is one of the largest districts of Balochistan, it is also the poorest district of the province. Amongst the many problems in the district, the poor education system is the starkest. As many as 156 schools in Awaran have not been functioning for years. Nearly 900 posts for teaching staff are lying vacant because the recruitment process for schools has not been completed. The administration and other relevant authorities have shown little interest in filling these positions and recommencing the schools.

Even the few schools that are operating do not have enough teachers to cater to all students. The school premises are in poor condition as they haven’t been refurbished for years. Students from different levels of learning have to cramp in a few classrooms in the heat. Some people send their children to other parts of the country to acquire education, but this is not a feasible option for most.

An entire generation is suffering due to the negligence of those at the helm. The youth of Awaran are being deprived of their right to education and the ability to improve their prospects. Some teenagers resort to working whilst others fall into the wrong activities. I request the provincial government, particularly the Chief Minister to take notice of the situation and work with the education department to reform the schools.
