Lack of hostel accommodation

Lack of hostel accommodation

KARACHI:

Karachi is one of the cities of Pakistan that proudly welcomes people from all ethnic backgrounds who come here for various motives. Many students also travel to Karachi from nearby towns and cities for educational purposes. I am one such student. Currently pursuing my Bachelor’s in Mathematics at the University of Karachi, I have to travel from Hub to Karachi on a daily basis just because I am unable to avail a hostel accommodation at the university. My daily commute between Hub and Karachi costs me 15 thousand rupees a month.

Searching for a hostel room within the KU premises is a terrible plight. It’s been eight months now that I have been visiting these hostels, but in vain. I am not the only student facing this issue; it’s an ordeal that many others like me have been going through. Not just money, shuttling between Hub and Karachi is also costing me my precious time which can otherwise be utilised in studies. There are instances where students, traveling from far-off areas, have had to drop out as they have failed to fulfil the minimum attendance criteria for not reaching the university on time. I humbly request the relevant officials to take immediate steps to solve this issue.
