KARACHI:
The number of dengue cases in Lahore has increased during the past month, which is extremely worrying. While the situation requires prompt attention from the Health Care Department and the Municipal Corporation, the general public also needs to play its important role. Since there are several viruses that might cause this disease, vaccination is not an option, and even having been infected before does not ensure immunity. First of all, I would like to thank LWMC which is performing various types of activities to combat the dengue fever. I also request the government to regularly hold anti-dengue awareness initiatives in neighbourhood and schools. If the community members take part in dengue prevention campaigns to keep their living spaces clean, remove standing water, and dump the discarded and damaged items, then it is possible to get rid of the dengue virus.
