KARACHI:
Ayesha Zehri has been promoted as deputy commissioner — Balochistan’s first female officer in this capacity. She has been posted in Naseerabad district. Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has rightly said that Ayesha Zehri’s appointment reflects confidence in the abilities of women belonging to a province that is considered the country’s most backward. Empowering women and making full use of their abilities should be the priority of our governments.
Ayesha Zehri has done her BE in Electrical Engineering from Khuzdar Engineering University. In 2017, she appeared in the Provincial Services Commission exam and joined the provincial services. She has earlier served as deputy secretary in the Irrigation Department as well as assistant commissioner in Chagai district. As assistant commissioner, she became known for conducting raids against criminals and drug smugglers and arresting a number of suspects.
