Curse of child labour

Letter September 14, 2022
Curse of child labour

KARACHI:

Child labour is a social evil we have failed to purge our society of. Small children continue to remain hot favourites for every type of jobs in the country because their services are available at a very low cost. Poverty is a major cause of child labour. Poor parents send their children to work so that they can feed themselves and the family.

Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 bans children under 14 to work in any industry or business, but the law is not being followed. The government must ensure implementation on the law in order to eliminate the curse of child labour. People should also be made aware of the fact that child labour deprives innocent children of their childhood and is very harmful to their physical and mental development. I hope this letter will prove to be an eye-opener for the concerned authorities and society.
