Moral decay

Moral decay

KARACHI:

We are living in a society where materialistic things are of utmost importance to us. Therefore, our standard of living has rapidly increased. In contrast, our moral standards are quickly eroding. For a stable, vibrant and sound society, moral values are considered as a driving force and an invaluable human asset. In its absence, society is rendered barren, like a land without plants and trees. Unfortunately, the modern world has forced people to adopt a regressive mindset.

High moral standing clogs the bottomless chasm of hatred and destruction, and moves civilization forward. High moral values infuse in the youth a sense of ownership of their lands and their people, which is a responsibility they need to uphold. Once the ideology of social, political, religious responsibility is cemented into our socio-political fabric, society starts to develop. Morality, kindness, unity, altruism, trustworthiness, earnestness, and piousness are all invaluable traits that every society must instill.

However, it seems that we are heading in the opposite direction. Human dignity and exalted values have evaporated. In its place, something insidious has taken shape. Malignant psyches reaped through fallacious beliefs are eroding the very foundations of our society. Hatred, intolerance and prehensile proclivities are strengthening their hand with corrosive implications. This is nothing short of a national emergency and the government must initiate ideological reforms to pave a righteous path forward for our nation.
