FPSC policy

KARACHI:

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) is an important agency of the government responsible for recruiting civil servants and bureaucrats. Therefore, it must fulfil its responsibilities efficiently and ensure that the most competent and skilled civil servants are recruited so that they can lead the country towards prosperity.

Last year, the FPSC announced a change in the annual Central Superior Service (CSS) exams by introducing a preliminary MCQ test to ensure that only the most qualified candidates take the actual examination. This decision was expected to help speed up the overall process as all non-serious candidates would be eliminated. However, the 33% passing criteria still offer leverage to many candidates because most students passed the MCQ test and were able to sit for the main exam.

Thus, the FPSC must keep at least 50% marks as the passing criteria to filter out candidates and ensure only the best ones undertake the main exam. This will save examiners time and results can be released quicker to begin the recruitment and training process.
