Monsoon woes

Letter August 22, 2022
Monsoon woes

JACOBABAD:

Continuous spells of thunderous monsoon rains have brought about destruction and chaos across Pakistan. Flash floods have ravaged urban and rural localities alike, leaving millions stranded and hopeless without proper food, water or shelter. Local authorities are putting in efforts by trying to facilitate the people and transfer them to safer places after houses were torn down. On the other hand, landlords and farmers have lost their seasonal crops due to out-of-capacity rain and flood situations in their fields.

Daily wage earners are facing difficulties as they are not able to work an earn a living. Their mud-made houses have collapsed and they remain with shelter. The government must take necessary steps to rescue the affected people and save them from these ills as soon as possible. These poor people should be aided with the basic commodities at the earliest.
