Absence of schools

Letter August 17, 2022
Absence of schools

KARACHI:

The youth are considered nation builders because of which countries invest in them to boost long-term innovation, development, and progress. The youth play an important role in transforming the country through their knowledge and skills. Unfortunately, in Balochistan, most of the youth have been deprived of educational facilities. Without proper education, the youth cannot enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

There is a common saying, “you educate a man, you educate a man, you educate a woman, you educate a generation”. Educating women is crucial for societal development. However, across Balochistan, there are few schools for girls. Even the ones that do exist are not equipped with adequate facilities such as classrooms, laboratories, libraries, etc. Teachers are not qualified or trained to undertake lessons and the curriculum is outdated.

Most schools are located 3 to 4 kilometres away, which is another obstacle. Despite finishing matric and intermediate, students often struggle with university admissions. These unfortunate circumstances have destroyed the future of many students across Balochistan. I request the relevant authorities to overhaul the education system in the province, build more schools, and equip them with sufficient resources so that the students can gain quality education and fulfil their dreams.
