KARACHI:
The constant fuel and energy price hikes have become torturous for most consumers because the government has failed to provide any sort of relief to the citizens. Within the last few months, my electricity bill has reached an exorbitant amount. This is a complete injustice because we are still faced with frequent load shedding.
The previous government gave a Rs5 subsidy on electricity, which lifted some burden off the public’s shoulders. However, the incumbent government withdrew the subsidy. The government should at least reduce slabs for consumers who use less than 300 units of electricity each month. Also, the monthly fuel charge adjustment should either be removed or reduced.
With the ever-increasing inflation and a rise in prices of services, it is becoming impossible for people to pay extortionate electricity bills. Therefore, the aforementioned measures are crucial to offer some relief to the public.
