Tea leaves and exports

Tea leaves and exports

KARACHI:

I fully agree with Dr Abdul Waheed, Director of National Tea and High Value Crop Research Institute, on his views about local tea production. Tea is grown in hilly areas where rain water does not accumulate. Thus our northern areas are very appropriate for tea production. In addition to regular milk tea, green tea production in abundance may also be undertaken in our northern areas. There are many benefits of green tea, and the modern trend advocates green tea production for a number of health benefits including weight loss. I believe our exporters lack the marketing ability to promote local products. They just follow the market trend. One of the marketing activities is market development. In market development, the marketer promotes the new product for consumption, and consumers are encouraged to use the new products. I am sure if we can promote the benefits of green tea in the developed world, our exports can get a considerable boost.
